Semax Research

Synthetic ACTH Analog & Neuropeptide

cognitive signaling research

Stress and Anxiety
Educational information only. Investigational uses may lack FDA approval. Not medical advice or a treatment plan.

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of the ACTH(4–10) fragment, developed in Russia where it has been studied and used clinically. Unlike ACTH itself, it has no adrenocortical activity. Researchers study it for its effects on cognitive signaling, neuroprotective pathways, and neurotrophin regulation.

BDNF & Neurotrophin Signaling Studies investigate Semax's ability to upregulate brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and other neurotrophin expression pathways, exploring its role in neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, and neurogenesis-related signaling.
Cognitive & Memory Pathway Research Research examines its influence on attention, working memory, and learning-related signaling pathways, including hippocampal function and cholinergic neurotransmission research.
Neuroprotective Signaling Studies explore Semax's potential protective effects on neurons under ischemic or oxidative stress conditions, investigating anti-apoptotic signaling pathways and neuroinflammation modulation research.
Dopaminergic & Serotonergic Pathway Research Researchers study its interaction with dopamine and serotonin receptor signaling systems, including its influence on mood-related neurotransmitter pathways and receptor sensitivity research.
HPA Axis & Stress Response Research Research investigates Semax's modulation of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis signaling, cortisol-related pathways, and stress-adaptation signaling in animal models.

Approved as a drug in Russia; investigational in most other regions. Not FDA-approved. Not medical advice.
