Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of the naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin. Developed in Russia, it is studied for its activity in anxiety-related and stress-response signaling pathways. Unlike many anxiolytic compounds, it does not appear to act primarily through GABA receptor modulation, making its mechanism of particular interest to researchers.
Áreas de investigación
Anxiety & Stress-Response Signaling
Research investigates Selank's anxiolytic-like effects in animal models, examining its role in amygdala signaling, fear-response pathway modulation, and stress-adaptation research without the sedative profile of classical anxiolytics.
BDNF & Neurotrophin Pathway Research
Studies examine its influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression, exploring downstream effects on synaptic plasticity, neuronal resilience signaling, and mood-related neurotrophin pathway research.
Immune Modulation Signaling
As a tuftsin analog, researchers study Selank's interaction with immune signaling pathways, including its effects on cytokine regulation, macrophage activity research, and innate immune modulation.
Serotonin & Dopamine Pathway Research
Research explores its interaction with serotonergic and dopaminergic signaling systems, investigating its role in mood stability, motivation-related pathways, and neurotransmitter balance research.
Cognitive & Memory Signaling
Studies investigate Selank's potential influence on working memory, attention-related neural pathways, and cognitive performance signaling in the context of anxiety-induced cognitive impairment research.
Approved as a drug in Russia; investigational in most other regions. Not FDA-approved. Not medical advice.
